TIME TO WRAP UP 2006
Just realized I hadn't added anything to my Blog for almost two months. As usual a few things have occurred and here are my comments:
TITANS -
Well, watch me eating crow on this one! It seems Vince Young IS becoming all he was touted to be. What a remarkable athlete to bring the Titans six (6) consecutive wins. Don't have any strong feeling about what will happen this Sunday against the Patriots, but we are constantly surprised. Yes, the Titans have the slimmest chance to go to the Playoff's (Steelers, 49'er and Chiefs win), but even if that rare occurrence doesn't happen, you won't find many people in Nashville upset with the Titans right now. It bodes well for a Playoff team next year. Thank you, guys, thank you!
POLITICS -
I'm not to surprised that the Demo's took over Congress. There's a lot of unhappiness out there, much of which was stirred up by media hype, but there are some root problems that were not solved or any solution for them on the horizon.
We can say a lot about Iraq and, apparently, President Ford, we are now told, was against the war. However, we are there and a constructive solution must be found. This may include political arrangements we have failed to pursue and may make some uncomfortable, but if the ultimate goal is some modicum of peace and honor in the Middle East, let's do it! Personally, I think the jury's still out on whether or not we should have become entangled. One thing sure...that bastard Saddam won't be around next year to exploit or murder the people of Iraq. That has to be a winning point!
President Ford passes with a full and long life. He always seemed to me like a friend and I particularly cheered the way he vetoed bills from Congress. I doubt if Reagan was as conservative as Ford in the long run. He lived his life like it mattered and with integrity. He never seemed to be taking advantage of photo op's like Clinton and when you saw him, he generally had something serious to say. He may not have been "profound" but he was clear which underlined his basic intelligence. He also loved football so that was a high mark from me. He's been out of the public eye for so long, it's hard to say "we'll miss him" but he will have a place in my heart for the decency he always displayed. God Bless and God Speed, Jerry! As they may say in Tennessee, "you DONE good!"
May I end this little dialogue with a sincere wish to you for a ...
"HAPPY & PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!"
